Woodshed - Mindwalk

Woodshed This debut album from Cape Town band Woodshed was released during 1997 along with a whole batch of similar CD EPs from the hard-working Street Level Studios label. The intention behind this release and those of other bands on their roster, including Black Diamond and The Usual, is to showcase new SA bands on a low- priced CD which isn't 70 minutes long.

Woodshed have grabbed their opportunity and the seven tracks on Mindwalk are indicative of a SA band that should deliver plenty more quality rock in the future. The songs are written and sung by Andrew Janisch and besides their thoughtful and mostly acoustic feel and production, they have lyrics that are audible and worth special attention.

Tracks such as 'Mindwalk', 'Chrissie' and 'Writing On The Wall' have already received radio play but all the songs could be chart contenders owing to their clarity of sound, hooky melodies and lines that stick in your mind long after the album's run its half-hour course. Definitely worth a listen.
