Pops Mahomed - Ancestral Healing
ball ball ball ball ball ball ball ball ball ball ball ball ball ball ball

Pops Now here is something very special - a musical dream picture woven from the acoustic sounds and spirit of indigenous Africa.
Using an assortment of basic instruments, Pops mahomed has mixed the Folk music of Southern Africa with the strong Jazz traditions of New York to create a clear and beautiful L.P.
Imagine a "Shona Dawn" with the maidens winding their way down the hill, water-jugs on their heads, the young lads sitting near the cows playing their Finger-Pianos and homemade guitars.
Most of this L.P. was recorded at the IKAYA Studios in New Jersey; the final 22-minute title track was recorded in the DOWNTOWN Studios in Johannesburg.
Pops plays a whole list of instruments here, mainly piano and mbira dzavadzimu (the very strange looking instument on the cover).
He was assisted by (amongst others) - Valerie Naranjo, Joey Cardello and Morris Goldberg.
This is like a musical massage, "Mbira Jive", "Cup o` Jo", "Communal Well" and "Salaam" give your ears a gentle rub and then "Ancestral Healing" finishes off the album with a collage of sounds, music and voices.
There is a freshness and feeling of happiness all over this record and it refuses to budge from my stereo.
This is HEALING music!!!
