Off The Edge

14th August 2004

You may or may not be familiar with the music of Off the Edge, one of South Africa's finest studio recording bands. Although the band was formed in 1983 and has released five studio albums to date, they have never played live as a group before!

If you have a copy of my 2004 desk calendar, you will find a bit of info on the band on the September 2004 calendar insert card. If you don't, I'll just tell you briefly that the band's leader and co-founder, Peter Hanmer, has put together the best line-up ever for the band's new CD, ‘Site Under Construction’, which was released a few months back, but which will be officially launched on Saturday, the 14th of August.

The current members who will be featured on the night include Peter Hanmer on guitars, Clint Cunningham on vocals, Sherry Jones on vocals/backing vocals, Dave Sharp on keyboards, Glen Welman on drums and Mike Dorea on bass (both of whom are new "additions" to the band - they are actually members of Clint's Creedence Clearwater Revival and U2 tribute bands).

The band has been receiving extensive coverage on SAfm and on Radio 2000, and if the response to their music is anything to go by, it's going to be a really memorable and jam-packed evening! Rafe Lavine, famous 5fm and SAfm deejay, will introduce the band, and copies of the ‘Site Under Construction’ CD will be sold at the venue.
