Biography:

This hard-rocking blues-rock outfit from Stellenbosch first appeared on the SA scene in 1996 when their newly formed line-up opened for The Led. Founders and guitarists Guy Collins and Schalk van der Merwe teamed up with drummer Hans Menck and were soon joined by Valiant Swart bassist, Schalk Joubert and started looking for a vocalist to complete the line-up. Parri Meyer “passed the audition” and his versatile and trained vocals added the edge to Billygoat’s all-out raucous rock attack.

They subsequently took their energetic cowboy-rock performance to OppiKoppi (twice) and Wingerdstok ’97 before recording and releasing their debut album, ‘Drawl’, on the Trippy Grape label. Many of these songs have received radio play on stations nation-wide and Billygoat continue to play their “Lynyrd Skynyrd”-inspired wild, loud and care-free rock music to enthusiastic audiences all round South Africa. In November 1998, Billygoat released the eight-song ‘Sister’ EP.
